Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.

I invite you to explore further and find out more about Chichester Stoneworks, the work we specialise in and become more familiar with my expert team, who for many years have provided successful conservation, restoration and new-build projects in the role of both Principal Contractor and Specialist Stone Contractor for a wide range of clients.

At the core of Chichester Stoneworks are heritage craft skills acquired over many years. I myself began my career as an apprentice stonemason with English Heritage in 1979, going on to work in Yorkshire as a mason and heritage building specialist for the next 20 years and running my own successful masonry business there.

I moved to Chichester in 2002 where I oversaw many prestigious and heritage projects such as the relocation of Temple Bar, the refurbishment of The Monument and of the inner quadrangle at Buckingham Palace.

My team share a common love for the work we undertake, but also essentially have practical and technical knowledge gained in the specialist trade-skills we employ in prolonging the life of our precious historic buildings.

Adam Stone

our company

As specialist stonemasonry contractors, we have been entrusted to manage, repair and conserve some of our Country’s most notable listed and heritage buildings. In addition to our restoration and conservation work we are also new-build stone specialists creating beautiful houses and buildings with internal and external features in finely crafted natural stone.

To us, each project is unique and has its own style and personality, and it therefore stands to reason that our approach is bespoke, professional and universally sympathetic. Our combination of flexibility, collaboration and consultation ensures all our projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

SUPPORTING THE NEXT
GENERATION OF CRAFTSPEOPLE

As proud custodians of heritage craft skills, we are acutely aware that these skills are in short supply across construction. We take our responsibility for training extremely seriously and do all we can to support the next generation; encouraging apprenticeships for people learning a trade and supporting others discovering a new career.

We currently employ craft apprentices and employees who are training for degree and professional qualifications and we champion continual development of our team by way of external training with links to learning institutions and schools.

Adam Stone is Deputy Chair of the Craft and Training Committee for The Worshipful Company of Masons, continuously striving to increase and improve the industry’s training provisions.
